ROCKETS FIRED AT JERUSALEM!! (ISRAEL'S CAPITAL), FROM GAZA! - HAMAS TAKE...
by NewsPoliticsNow3
The Israel Defence Forces confirmed that a rocket was fired from Gaza to an uninhabited area outside Jerusalem.
The rocket caused no damage or injuries, the Israeli army said.
Israel media reported that two rockets had landed outside Jerusalem.
The armed wing of Hamas al Qassam Brigades said on Twitter: "Al Qassam Brigades launch two M75 homemade missiles towards occupied Jerusalem."
Twenty-two Palestinians - eight of whom were militants - have now been killed in the violence. Three Israelis were killed by a rocket on Thursday.
Earlier, there was a second rocket attack by Palestinian militants on Tel Aviv in 24 hours.
Air raid sirens went off in the centre of Israel's largest city on Friday afternoon and people were forced to scramble for cover. There were no reports of any injuries and it is believed to have landed in the sea.

Israeli, U.S. Elections and Gaza Strikes - More Than Coincidence
by TheYoungTurks
"Israel is bombarding Gaza for a second day, with 13 Palestinians killed, including four children, and over 100 injured. The attack's timing is under question with a looming Israeli election, as is the precision of airstrikes which kill civilians.
Israel's military operation started on Wednesday with a strike killing Hamas military leader Ahmed Jabari. Since then, reports say, the IDF has struck around 200 targets in Gaza. Furthermore, Israel is threatening to go as far as initiating a ground operation, sparking fears of a repetition of the Cast Lead scenario.
The Israeli Defense Force (IDF), which has engaged in a Twitter showdown since the very beginning of the strikes, said it targets only "terror sites". However, this has been questioned by witnesses on social media who point out that only four people of the 13 so far killed by Israeli airstrikes were Hamas militants, while the rest were civilians, including women and children."*
Cenk Uygur, Ben Mankiewicz (Host, Turner Classic Movies), and John Iadarola (Host, TYT University) discuss the timing of the killings on the Gaza Strip with U.S. and Israeli elections and the latest in this developing, complicated situation. What is the best way for leadership to react?

Israel 'Pillar of Cloud' operation started in Gaza
by PressTVGlobalNews
The Israeli forces' Pillar of Cloud operation started yesterday by the assassination of the Hamas Military Chief Ahmed Jabary and his assistant Mohammed Al-Hams.
The operation has carried on with nonstop Israeli attacks targeting Gazan civilians for the second day in a row. 15 people were killed and 140 injured and medical officials expect more injuries and dead.
According to Dr. Ashraf al-Qedra, the Health Ministry Spokesperson, 6 civilians were killed today including 3 children, a pregnant woman, and 2 elderlies.

In a response to the Israeli continuous attacks targeting the blockaded coastal enclave, the resistance militant groups in Gaza remain to launch homemade rockets towards Israel after launching the first rocket towards Tel-Aviv last night.
"Strikes, destruction, death and injuries have been around every corner in the Gaza Strip for the second day after Israeli forces announced the Pillar of Cloud operation in Gaza."

Israeli defense system not working well: Webster Tarpley
by PressTVGlobalNews
A political analyst tells Press TV that the rockets reaching Tel Aviv shows that the Israeli defense system with the Arrow and David's Sling and then Iron Dome at the bottom is not working very well.
The comments come after several rockets fired from Gaza Strip have hit the Israeli capital, Tel Aviv, forcing police to open all underground bunkers in the city.
Press TV has conducted an interview with Webster Griffin Tarpley, author and historian, to further discuss the issue. What follows is an approximate transcription of the interview.

Nasrallah urges military, humanitarian aid for Gazans
by PressTVGlobalNews
In Lebanon, a country that was subject to a 33-day period of Israeli bombardment in 2006, tens have taken to the streets to protest the Israeli war on Gaza.
Members and supporters of the Lebanese communist party and Palestinian factions have gathered outside the UN headquarters in Beirut, demanding that the world come to the defense of Gaza.
Hezbollah's leader, Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah, who's group is a close ally of the Palestinian resistance factions made his first comments since the attack began on Gaza.
Nasrallah described the Palestinian resistance's launching of rockets into Tel-Aviv as a significant development in the history of Arab Israeli confrontation.
He also called on Arab and Muslim states to assist the Palestinians by sending weapons and humanitarian needs to Gaza.
Nasrallah added that the regional countries through their relations with the US possessed the ability to end the conflict in Gaza.
The Israeli attack on Gaza began with the assassination of the military commander of the resistance movement Hamas, Ahmad al-Jaabari. Israel has also bombarded the city, killing a number of civilians, including women and children.
Lebanon is a country believed to have made a match for Israel following the July 2006 war with Hezbollah. Now about six years on, Israel's situation is not better with allies like the US pre-occupied in internal issues and the emergence of a new leadership in Egypt. Not to mention the possession of more enhanced weapons in the hands of the resistance that have forced Israel to shut down Tel-Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport.

Syria, Homs - Fighter Jet Carpet Bombs The City
by baynetna
The 2011--2012 Syrian uprising is an ongoing internal conflict in Syria, a part of the wider Arab Spring, that began in January 2011. Public demonstrations first took place on 26 January 2011, but were only a sporadic occurrence until mass protests erupted in Damascus on 15 March.[48] The situation quickly developed into a full-scale nationwide uprising, with protesters demanding the resignation of President Bashar al-Assad and the overthrow of the government. The situation in Syria is part of the Arab Spring, a wave of social upheaval throughout the Arab World demanding greater political freedom and an end to autocracy. Inspired by the successful revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt, Syrian protesters have employed the use of tactics such as marches, hunger strikes, rioting, and vandalism, in a sustained campaign of civil resistance aimed at ending nearly five decades of Ba'athist rule. The uprising was described as "unprecedented" by several political commentators

iron Dome intercepts rockets
By: gatyair
Rocket fire resumed on southern Israel early Thursday morning after a brief lull, with Gazan terrorists continuing to paralyze towns in the area surrounding the Palestinian enclave.
The IDF Spokesman’s Office reported that seven terrorists were killed overnight in Israeli airstrikes across the Strip, as the army continued it’s day-old offensive against Gaza terror groups. Israel carried out strikes on more than 100 terror targets overnight, successfully hitting five rocket launching squads. The air force also distributed leaflets over Gaza warning residents to stay away from terrorist bases and weapons depots, stressing that civilians were not the targets of the strikes.
At least eight rockets were fired Thursday morning at Beersheba, which took the brunt of the 90 rockets Gaza hurled at Israel a day earlier following the assassination of Hamas military commander Ahmed Jabari. Five rockets were shot down by the Iron Dome anti-missile defense system, which is programmed to intercept rockets heading towards populated areas. The rest fell in open areas, causing no injuries or damage.

Iron Dome also intercepted rockets fired towards Ashdod and Ashkelon.
Four mortar shells landed in the Eshkol region. No injuries were reported.
The assassination of Jabari marked the beginning of Operation Pillar of Defense, which Israeli leaders have warned could widen as they attempt to break Hamas’s ability to shoot rockets into Israel.
On Thursday morning, Israel targeted a motorcycle carrying a rocket squad, killing three terrorists.
Tank shells and naval gunfire have backed up the air onslaught. Few in the territory’s largest urban area, Gaza City, heeded the call for dawn prayers, and the only vehicles plying the streets were ambulances and media cars.
In Israel, the rocket fire continued into the dead of the night, with rockets falling around Beersheba, Ashdod, Sderot and other towns in Israel’s south. The fire ceased temporarily around 4 a.m. Thursday, resuming just after 6 a.m.
The Iron Dome anti-missile defense system has so far downed some 30 rockets over Beersheba and towns surrounding the Gaza Strip, out of some 35 attempts. All in all, about 110 rockets were launched by Palestinian terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip Wednesday evening, including dozens of long-range Grad rockets that were fired at Beersheba.
Three of the rockets Wednesday night fell in the vicinity of Dimona in the central Negev, which is located some 70 kilometers from the Gaza Strip. According to foreign sources, the Dimona nuclear research facility is a focal point of Israel’s nuclear weapons program.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Speaks About Attack on Hamas

Mideast Conflict: Israeli Military, Gaza Militants Trade Fire
JERUSALEM (AP) - Militants in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip killed three Israelis on Thursday in a rocket attack likely to deepen a bruising Israeli air, naval and artillery offensive, the most intense assault on the Palestinian territory in four years.
The casualties were the first in Israel since it launched its operation on Wednesday with the assassination of Hamas' top military commander, followed by an onslaught of airstrikes and shelling by tanks and naval gunboats. Eleven Palestinians, including two children and seven militants, have been killed and more than 100 wounded in Gaza since the Israeli operation began.
Few in the Palestinian territory's largest urban area, Gaza City, came out following the call for dawn prayers on Thursday, and the only vehicles plying the streets were ambulances and media cars.
About 400 angry mourners braved the streets, however, to bury Hamas mastermind Ahmed Jabari, whose body was draped in the green flag of the Islamic militant Hamas movement. Some fired guns in the air and chanted, "God is Great, the revenge is coming." When the body was brought into a mosque for funeral prayers, some tried to touch or kiss it. Others cried.
"This crime will not weaken us. It will make us stronger and more determined to continue the path of jihad and resistance," Hamas lawmaker Mushir al-Masri said in a eulogy. "The enemy opened the battle and shall bear the consequences."
Israel said Jabari's assassination was the start of a broader offensive, launched after days of rocket fire from the coastal territory. It was Israel's most intense attack on Gaza since its full-scale war there four years ago.
The fighting has deepened the instability gripping the Middle East. Egypt recalled its ambassador to protest the military operation.
Just days earlier, Israel was drawn into Syria's civil war for the first time, firing missiles into its northern neighbor for the first time in four decades after stray mortar fire landed in Israeli-occupied Syrian territory.
Israeli aircraft, tanks and naval gunboats resumed pounded Gaza early Thursday and about 60 rockets thudded into southern Israel as terrified residents on both sides of the frontier holed up in their homes.
Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said two Israeli men and a woman died after a rocket struck their four-story apartment building in the southern Israeli town of Kiryat Malachi. A 4-year-old boy was seriously wounded in and two babies lightly wounded in the strike.
Gaza schools were ordered closed until the operation ends, and most of the territory's 1.6 million people hunkered down close to home, venturing out only to buy food, fuel and other basic supplies.
Hamas announced a state of emergency in Gaza, evacuating all its security buildings and deploying its troops away from their locations.
Israeli aircraft dropped leaflets on several locations in Gaza early Thursday, warning Gazans to stay away from Hamas, other militants and their facilities.
The Israeli military said Hamas fighters and other militant factions, undeterred by the air attacks, bombarded southern Israel with more than 130 rockets after the operation began. Israel's newly deployed Iron Dome missile defense system, developed as a response to the short-range rockets from Gaza, intercepted two dozen of them, military spokeswoman Lt. Col. Avital Leibovich said.
Israel declared a state of emergency in the country's south, where more than 1 million Israelis live within rocket range, instructing people to remain close to fortified areas. School was canceled in communities within a 40-kilometer (25-mile) radius of Gaza.
People living in areas along the frontier were ordered to stay home from work, save for essential services, and shopping centers were closed. Israeli police stepped up patrols around the country, fearing Hamas could retaliate with bombing attacks far from the reaches of Gaza.
Batya Katar, a resident of Sderot, a community that has been a frequent target of rocket fire, said streets were empty there.
"People won't be outside. The minute they assassinated the Hamas military chief we knew an offensive had begun. We were waiting for it, and it's about time they did it. We have the right to live like other countries in the world."
Israeli officials said Wednesday that a ground invasion was a strong possibility in the coming days if Hamas didn't rein in the rocket fire. Mid-morning Thursday, there was no sign such an invasion might be beginning. But the Israeli military was cleared to call up special reserve units - a sign the operation might broaden
