Washington assists Syrian armed groups





The US has taken another step forward in bolstering the opponents of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, only a day after a ceasefire went into effect in the country. Washington has in a draft resolution called for an immediate deployment of military monitors to Syria. But Russia and China have opposed it. The UN Security Council members failed to reach a conclusive agreement on the issue. The body is now set to vote on a modified resolution.
