Arms & cash flow to Syria rebels must stop to end violence

by Political writer and activist Sara Flounders says violence in Syria will only stop if foreign support to the rebels stops first.

Tank of the Syrian army got disabled, looted, and burnt by rebels. 10/7/12

First video shows the rebels claiming victory over the tank while dragging the dead crew away and looting the spoil.
In the second video the tank is seen from a different angle, I wonder if it was an IED that made him leap up on the barrier or was it a driver error.
Third video shows the tank set on fire with some annoying fag durka music, and the neanderthal rebels taking credit for the kill.

Has sophisticated cyber-warfare rendered these Russian systems obsolete? Spoofing - the ability to take over an enemies air defence network, creating dummy targets? Remember Israel's raid into Syria, was this system deployed at the time defending main SAM batteries?

A video posted on youtube, Monday, July 9, 2012, shows that the Syrian army is equipped with the new Russian-made air defence missile system Pechora-2M (Read more about Pechora-2M at http://www.armyrecognition.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&... ). Some sources of information on Internet report that in 2011, Russia would have made modernization of air defense missile system S-125 Pechora (SA-3 Goa ) to Pechora-2M level.

Syria - Assad Shabiha Thugs hitting protesters with plastic pipe cables (7/10/12)

The torturers are Shabbiha thugs. As they hit the tied up men, they mock and insult the words "Allah Akbar" (snackbar to some here on LL). One of the Shabbiha thugs is from Oregon?

Syria - MUST WATCH - SAA Tanker IED at SAA Checkpoint (7/10/2012)

A Syrian Assad Army gas tanker gets hit by what seems to be an IED or maybe even planted charges at the tanker itself near a checkpoint. Subsequently, the Shabbiha SAA runs away while the leaking gas lights up the whole street. This took place in the Jabal Akrad area on the 10th of July 2012.

FSA take on 3 T-72 Tanks destroy all in 60 seconds

NO "WESTERN" COUNTRY FOR IRANIAN OIL!

by
Bremerton-based aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis is returning to the Middle East much sooner than expected. The Navy hasn't officially announced the new deployment plan for the Stennis, said spokesman Lt. Cmdr. Zach Harrell." The ship came home to Naval Base Kitsap on March 2 after seven months of launching planes into Iraq and Afghanistan. Generally, it wouldn't go back to the Fifth Fleet area of responsibility for four to five years, after a deployment to the Western Pacific and a maintenance period. But with Iran making threats, crew members learned they'll be leaving again in late August for eight months..."
At least with the Stennis back, the US public can sleep soundly because Iran will not feel at all threatened with not two but three carriers, not to mention however many supporting ships:
Two U.S. aircraft carrier battle groups — USS Abraham Lincoln and USS Enterprise — are now in the Middle East. The Navy has doubled the number of minesweepers in the region, to eight, and moved a converted amphibious transport and docking ship, the USS Ponce, into the Persian Gulf to serve as a floating staging base for military operations or humanitarian assistance. Its first job will be as a hub for mine-clearing, according to Pentagon officials..
At least unlike the the Enterprise, which is currently on its final lifetime assignment for some odd reason in the Persian Gulf, the Stennis at least is veteran when it comes to all matters Middle Eastern..
The Stennis is familiar with Iranian threats. During its last deployment, which ran from August 2011 to March 2012, it exited the Persian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz. The chief of Iran's military was quoted as telling "the American warship that passed through the Strait of Hormuz and went to the Gulf of Oman not to return to the Persian Gulf." The Stennis just went about its business, launching planes to help troops in Afghanistan, though family and friends back home were worried by the news coverage.
U.S. officials said the ships were in international waters, and they won't tolerate any effort by Iran to close the Strait of Hormuz, through which one-sixth of the world's oil is transported..
During its last deployment, the Stennis air wing conducted 13,389 sorties in support of troops...

Syrian opp. serves interests of West

by
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad says Washington plays a role in the turmoil in Syria by supporting the armed gangs to destabilize the country.

Assad told the German ARD television channel in an interview on July 5, which was aired on Sunday, that the United States is "part of the conflict," and that "they offer the umbrella and political support to those gangs to... destabilize Syria."

Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011.

While the West and the Syrian opposition accuse the government of killing the protesters, Damascus blames "outlaws, saboteurs and armed terrorist groups" for the unrest, insisting that it is being orchestrated from abroad.

Press TV has conducted an interview with Randy Short, Dignity, Human Rights and Peace Organization, from Washington, to further discuss the issue.
