Turkey reinforces Syria stance
by AlJazeeraEnglish
The Turkish authorities are to hold a series of meetings on Saturday to try to defuse rising tensions between Ankara and Damascus. It comes just days after five Turkish civilians were killed in shelling from across the Syrian border. Earlier this week, Turkey intercepted a Syria-bound plane amid reports it had Russian-made defence equipment aboard. Al Jazeera's Dominic Kane reports
Iran and NPT
by PressTVGlobalNews
Iran's nuclear energy program is about 60 years old, but in the last decade, it's become a hot topic in global media. For the last ten years the US, Britain and Israel among others, have faced with Iran over its nuclear energy program. These nations accuse Tehran of having a clandestine nuclear weapons program, and demand Iran closes down its facilities until their fears are assuaged.
Iran denies this citing numerous IAEA reports that have found no evidence to support western claims. The war of words over Iran's nuclear program has resulted in sanctions being imposed on Iran -- sanctions that have hit the Iranian nation hard, reducing their standard of living drastically. And on the pretext of its nuclear program Iran is threatened with war on a regular basis, with the US saying no option is off the table. When Iran first launched its nuclear program, long before the Islamic revolution, it signed the Non-Proliferation-Treaty.
Being a NPT member means you have certain limitations, but you are also entitled to nuclear assistance and technology. But since the revolution Iran has only been limited by the NPT. Nuclear powers refuse to facilitate Iran's nuclear sites and instead insist on them being shut down. So far the mistrust toward Iran has been based on hunches and suspicion. Consequently political analysts in Iran are debating whether it's worth Iran being NPT membership.

The first public video from aboard the Syria-bound plane intercepted by Turkish authorities. Passengers filmed the Turkish F-16s that intercepted the plane, and then Turkish soldiers boarding the aircraft. The plane's flight engineer later bandages his handcuff-scarred hands.
Turkish F-16 fighter jets forced a Syrian Air passenger plane to land in Ankara over suspicions that it was carrying "non-civilian" cargo. The Damascus-bound plane, en route from Moscow, has departed after a nine-hour inspection.

Hezbollah leader Nasrallah Vs. Israel PM Netanyahu over Drone Shot Down
by edricle
Lebanon's Hezbollah says it launched the drone that was shot down over Israeli territory last week.
Hassan Nasrallah, the chief of the militant Shiite group, speaking on the party's al-Manar television station, said the drone was Iranian-made and assembled by Hezbollah. He said it passed over "sensitive and important" locations -- apparently a reference to Israel's Dimona nuclear plant -- describing it as an "achievement" for the aircraft to fly for so long before it was downed.
"We are revealing here just a part of our capabilities and we're hiding lots of other parts," Mr Nasrallah said. "We have the full right to launch as many reconnaissance flights as we like."
Israel's forces shot down the unmanned aircraft after it entered Israeli airspace from the Mediterranean. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that the aerial vehicle was launched by Hezbollah, after Israel Radio on October 7 cited unidentified army officials as saying that the Shiite group was responsible.
Mr Nasrallah "wants to provoke Israel and play on Arab feelings that he is still holding the flag of the Arab resistance against Israel", as well as distract attention from the uprising against his ally Bashar al-Assad in Syria, said Sami Nader, professor of international relations at St Joseph University in Beirut.
"We will act with determination to defend our borders by sea, as we do on land with this fence that stops terrorists and infiltrators, and in the air, as we did when we frustrated the attempt by Hezbollah last weekend," Mr Netanyahu said, while touring the barrier under construction at the border between Israel and Egypt.
His spokesman, Mark Regev, said the prime minister was referring to the downed drone and declined to give further details.
Mr Nasrallah also said Hezbollah had not sent fighters to help combat the uprising in Syria, though he didn't rule out doing so. Syrian opposition groups have said Hezbollah members are fighting alongside Assad's army.
"The regime in Syria doesn't need us or anyone else to fight alongside it," he said.

The Free Syrian Army (Arabic: الجيش السوري الحر, Al-Jayš Al-Suri Al-Ḥurr) is the main armed opposition group operating in Syria that has been active during the Syrian civil war.[6] Composed of defected Syrian Armed Forces personnel and volunteers,[7][8][9] its formation was announced on 29 July 2011 in a video released on the internet by a uniformed group of deserters from the Syrian military who called upon members of the Syrian army to defect and join them.[10] The leader of the group, who identified himself as Colonel Riad al-Asaad, announced that the Free Syrian Army would work with demonstrators to bring down the system, and declared that all security forces attacking civilians are justified targets.[
Syria - Shoot To Kill - معرة النعمان
by baynetna
The 2011--2012 Syrian uprising is an ongoing internal conflict in Syria, a part of the wider Arab Spring, that began in January 2011. Public demonstrations first took place on 26 January 2011, but were only a sporadic occurrence until mass protests erupted in Damascus on 15 March.[48] The situation quickly developed into a full-scale nationwide uprising, with protesters demanding the resignation of President Bashar al-Assad and the overthrow of the government. The situation in Syria is part of the Arab Spring, a wave of social upheaval throughout the Arab World demanding greater political freedom and an end to autocracy. Inspired by the successful revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt, Syrian protesters have employed the use of tactics such as marches, hunger strikes, rioting, and vandalism, in a sustained campaign of civil resistance aimed at ending nearly five decades of Ba'athist rule. The uprising was described as "unprecedented" by several political commentators

55 Cancri e The planet Diamond Alien
Light from an alien "super-Earth" twice the size of our own Earth has been detected by a NASA space telescope for the first time in what astronomers are calling a historic achievement.
NASA's infrared Spitzer Space Telescope spotted light from the alien planet 55 Cancri e, which orbits a star 41 light-years from Earth. A year on the extrasolar planet lasts just 18 hours.
The planet 55 Cancri e was first discovered in 2004 and is not a habitable world. Instead, it is known as a super-Earth because of its size: The world is about twice the width of Earth and has about eight times the mass of Earth.

His eminence assured that this drone was only one of the many surprises that Hezbollah would unveil in any upcoming war with the Zionist entity. Sayyed Nasrallah also stated that the Resistance has the right to dispatch such surveillance drones over Occupied Palestine in the future, especially seen the countless Zionist violations of Lebanese airspace.
The Secretary General also briefly spoke about the weapons warehouse incident, and he denied the claims of those who insist that members of Hezbollah are fighting alongside the Syrian regime. His eminence said that this has not happened at all since the beginning of the event in Syria, and the Syrian regime does not need anyone to help it fight its own battles.
