Various units of Iran's Army staged military parades in Tehran and other cities across the country to mark the National Army Day.
During the parades, the Iranian armed forces displayed different weapons and military tools and equipment, including ground-to-ground missiles, air-to-ground missiles, surface-to-surface missiles, tactical and armed vehicles, surface and underwater vessels, fighters, helicopters, drones, electronic and telecommunication equipment, light and mid-light weapons, different kinds of artillery and mortar-launchers, air defense systems and logistic equipment.
Speaking at the ceremony, Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the country would strongly respond to any aggression. He further noted that that maintaining the security of the Persian Gulf is a principle that should be abided by all the regional countries, saying Iran, in collaboration with other regional countries, is ready to establish the most stable security in the region.
Defense analysts and military observers say that Iran's military exercise and its advancements in weapons production have proved as a deterrent factor.
