Iranian Navy Fleet Docks in China's Southern Port

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian Navy's 24th flotilla of warships docked in China's Southern port city of Zhangjigang as part of its mission to convey Iran's message of peace and friendship to the East Asian states.

Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Navy for Operations Admiral Siyavash Jarreh announced that the Navy's 24th fleet of warship, comprised of Khark chopper carrier and Sabalan destroyer, docked in Zhangjigang this morning after a 13,000-kilometer voyage in 40 days.

The commander said that during its voyage the Iranian warships traced and detected 1,180 trade and oil vessels and monitored the moves of over 120 military units with the help of their optical and electronic equipment.

He added that the visit was aimed at consolidating Iran's relations with China and conveying a message of peace and friendship to Beijing and other regional states.

Late in February, Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari announced that Iranian warships will dock in Sri Lanka's capital city of Colombo on its way back home from a mission in Southeast Asia.

"The flotilla will dock in Sri Lanka's Colombo on his way back to the Gulf of Aden," Sayyari said at the time.
