BERLIN - GERMAN Defence Minister Thomas de Maiziere on Saturday said two German soldiers were killed in a Taleban suicide bombing, contradicting local officials who said three of the seven dead were German soldiers.
The minister also confirmed that the commander of Nato forces for northern Afghanistan, German general Markus Kneip, who was in the targeted building but survived, had been 'slightly More..injured.'
The police chief of northern Afghanistan and three other Afghans were killed in the attack at the Takhar governor's office on Saturday, local officials said.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said in a statement she was 'shocked and sad at the deaths, and the injuries inflicted on German soldiers, as well as the Afghan victims.'
'This terrorist attack is a illustration of a murderous inhumanity,' she said, adding that she hoped the Afghan authorities would lead a painstaking investigation so that those 'responsible are held to account as quickly as possible.' link

NATO kills 20 Afghan police and 18 civilians in the northeast of the country
NATO has been busy killing civilians this weekend and in their fog of blood bodycount is now at 32 civilians in two days. Just admit you`ve lost and get out of there.
Sunday, May 29 – According to an Afghan provincial governor, friendly fire by international forces have killed at least 20 Afghan police forces and 18 civilians following air strikes against insurgents in the northeast of the cou More..ntry.
According to officials, the incident took place on Wednesday which killed 20 police forces and 18 civilians. The policemen and the civilians were killed by the US led air strikes assuming they are the militants.
Heavy clashes between Afghan forces and Taliban have been witnessed in Nuristan province last week.
Jamaluddin Badar said, the policemen were killed due to friendly fire. The air strike in the troubled district of Do Ab targeted a location that the officers “had just” taken from the insurgents during fighting.
The governor further added, the civilians were killed because the insurgents had fled into civilians houses after they had finished their ammunition and could not resist against the Afghan and foreign forces. The civilians were mistakenly assumed as insurgents and were targeted by the air strikes.
The NATO-led International Security Assistance Force said it was investigating the allegations.source

One Reuters witness reported seeing the bodies of several troops wearing foreign uniforms and saw smoke rising near the Italian-run joint civilian an More..d military provincial reconstruction team (PRT) base in Herat.
A second Reuters witness said it appeared an unknown number of insurgents had entered a seven-storey building near the PRT and began opening fire on the base from there.
Italian troops form the bulk of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in the area but there was no immediate confirmation of casualties from ISAF.
A spokesman for ISAF in Kabul said the force was aware of reports of the attack and was looking into them.
Television pictures from Herat showed at least two vehicles destroyed by explosions and troops scurrying for cover
Violence has spiked across Afghanistan since the Taliban announced at the beginning of May the start of a spring offensive.
Attacks have taken place in cities across Afghanistan in recent weeks, with the Afghan government and security forces and foreign military targets singled out in increasingly bold assaults.
U.S. commanders had warned to expect a surge in violence as insurgents attempted to hit back after U.S.-led ISAF troops and Afghan forces made major gains in operations in the Taliban heartland in the south over the past 12 months.
Italy has about 3,880 troops serving in Afghanistan, the majority of them in the west.link

Never-ending UFO sightings astonish Russia
Michael Cohen m.cohen@allnewsweb.com
A number of countries are currently experiencing UFO sightings at an unprecedented level: One of these countries is Russia: Dozens of sightings are occurring there daily to the shock of thousands of citizens who witness these craft.
Only weeks after thousands saw what might have been a giant UFO either crash or land in a wooded area in the Yakutsk region of Siberia, a UFO has been sighted in the oil town of Khanty Mansiysk.
The UFO, seen in the news report below (lower video), was disc shaped and a luminous blue colour. According to witnesses the craft hovered silently in the sky before vanishing. Meanwhile in the town of Volkhov another UFO was seen only days ago (first video below): in this case the object, also glowing, was diamond shaped.
Now scientists and researchers are asking; Why are UFO events occurring at such an increasing rate? Many believe aliens might be trying to warn humanity of some impending disaster.
What do you think?
