Hezbollah confirms fighting role in Syrian conflict and claims it is defending Bashar al-Assad
Lebanese militant group Hezbollah has held a massive rally where its leader admitted that Hezbollah troops are actively fighting in Syria. Appearing in a televised address to mark 13 years since Israel withdrew from southern Lebanon, Hassan Nasrallah declared that Hezbollah militants would stay in the Syrian Civil War 'to the end of the road' and bring victory to its ally President Bashar al-Assad.

Terrorism? Soldier Brutally Butchered in the Street
"A British soldier was hacked to death by two men shouting Islamic slogans in a south London street, in what Prime Minister David Cameron said appeared to be a terrorist attack."*
Two men were caught butchering, hacking, and according to some- beheading- a soldier walking down a South London Street in broad daylight. One of the assailants even spoke to a camera, trying to justify the killing. Was this an act of terrorism? Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

Battle for strategic Qusayr : Syrian army, Hezbollah fight rebels for supply corridor
Intense fighting is reported from the strategic Syrian town of Qusair, as rebels and government forces fight to control the area. Opposition activists say 30 members of Hezbollah were killed, while the government claims to have captured the area.
Earlier Monday, Syrian state news agency SANA reported that the army had "restored security and stability to most Qusair neighborhoods" and was "chasing the remnants of the terrorists in the northern district." The agency quoted a military source as saying that army units dismantled a number of explosive devices, planted by terrorists in al-Souk area in the middle of the city.
The source added that army units are continuing hunting the remnants of terrorists in some hideouts in the northern and southern areas of the city.
"The Syrian army managed to make a full circle around the city, fighting the opposition fighters. The main achievement is to stop the line of supply chain between Lebanon and Syria," local journalist Abdallah Mawazini told RT.
"They started from the western side of the city, in the rural areas. They control this zone with some fighters from Lebanon. Some extremist groups were preparing to go into Syria to fight with the rebels, they were going to go make a bigger front in order to fight and expand the fighting line between the government and the opposition," he said.
But opposition activists denied that Qusair had been captured, saying that they had pushed back most of the attacking forces to their original positions, destroying at least four Syrian army tanks and five light Hezbollah vehicles.
Troops backed by Hezbollah "made incursions into Qusair, but they are now basically back to where they started at the security compounds in east Qusair and at a...roadblock to the south," local activist Tareq Murei told Reuters.
Murei said that six people were killed by Hezbollah's multiple rocket launches on Monday.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that 48 rebels had been killed, as well as four civilians. The Observatory's director, Rahim Abdurahman, put Hezbollah casualties at 23 dead and 70 wounded. Lebanese security sources said at least 12 Hezbollah fighters had been killed.
Qusair, which is about 18 miles (29km) southwest of Homs, is seen as a key city for both sides. It helps link the Syrian capital of Damascus with government strongholds on the Mediterranean coast and is a passageway for rebel supplies and fighters from Lebanon.
According to UN figures, more than 80,000 people have been killed since the uprising against Bashar Assad began in March 2011.
'No options off the table'
British Foreign Secretary William Hague said in a Monday statement that "no options are off the table" if the Syrian government refuses to negotiate the country's future at the upcoming Geneva conference.
The comment came just four days after he accused the Assad regime of being "determined to conceal the truth" about what was happening, due to its refusal to allow a UN team to investigate reports that chemical weapons had been used by the Syrian army.
But while Hague points the finger at the Assad government, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has urged the Syrian opposition to take part in the peace conference, without setting any preconditions. The conference is being organized by the US and Russia, as a way to seek a resolution to the conflict.
"Our colleagues, including Americans, together with who we put forward this initiative [to hold the conference], took the obligation to work closely with the opposition in order to make it change its approach to the immediate start of the negotiations and stop conditioning it with unrealistic things," Lavrov said in a statement.
Lavrov also stressed that Iran must be among nations invited to the conference.
Istanbul and Madrid are expected to host meetings of various Syrian opposition groups this week, he said.

Iran unveils a new air defense system. On Monday Iran's Defense Ministry alongside the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Aerospace Force (IRGC AF) unveiled a domestically built mobile air defense system called "Herze 9". Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi commented on this new achievement. "Herze 9" can identify and target enemy helicopters, rockets and fighter jets at low ranges and low altitudes of about 8-12 kilometers. This mobile air defense system uses the most technologically advanced computer hardware and software and the latest navigation system available today. Brig. Gen. Vahidi said Iran has produced this defense system, despite the recent wave of unilateral sanctions of the west against Iran.

Iran's Saeed Jalili warns West over Syria
With international pressure increasing on efforts to end the two-year-long conflict, Iran - which maintains strong connections with President Bashar-al Assad's regime - has come out strongly, warning the West against arming the rebels.
The Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Saeed Jalili reiterated his government's standpoint to euronews:
"The price is not only being paid by Syrian people. Rather it is also being paid by the people of Europe. Insisting on this wrongful behaviour they have given opportunities to terrorists to come thousands of kilometres from Afghanistan to the borders of Europe. I think that this is something that the people in Europe need to be worried about this."
Saeed Jalili is currently leading Iran's negotiations on the country's nuclear dispute with major world powers. The UN's nuclear agency and Europe want Tehran to suspend uranium enrichment to reassure everyone it is not seeking nuclear weapons.
"We have provided the Agency with the widest level of cooperation that is possible. I would go so far as to say that our cooperation with the Agency is unprecedented," said Jalili.
Jalili's comments will come as a surprise to the US and Europe, However his last minute entry into Iran's forthcoming presidential elections may indicate Tehran is ready for dialogue on major world issues.

Iran unveils new drone Hemaseh 'Epic' radar-evading, Stealth, May 2013
Iran says it has built new, radar-evading drone
Much has been said already of the vast US military drone program, but Iran has just unveiled the latest of its own autonomous aircraft in a bid to highlight recent advances in the drive to build its own drone fleet.
The Iranian military on Thursday unveiled a new long-range drone capable of evading radar detecting as the country marks the Army Day.
The drone, named Sarir (Throne) H110, carries cameras and air- to-air missiles, said Commander of Iran's Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili.
He added tens have so far been produced and Iran has started mass production of this model, according to semi- official Fars news agency.
In a ceremony held to mark the Army Day, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad hailed the "might" and achievements of the army in the past few years.
Designated as the Hemaseh in Farsi, meaning 'epic' in English, Iran's latest reconnaissance-combat drone was unveiled on Thursday during a ceremony attended by Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi.
Brightly painted in the colors of Iran's national flag and sporting what looked to be two dummy missiles under its wings, the domestically built drone is said to possess stealth capabilities that would allow it to evade enemy radar.
"This drone has been built by defense industry experts and is simultaneously capable of surveillance, reconnaissance and missile and rocket attacks," Vahidi said during the unveiling.
"This aircraft with its stealth quality can avoid detection by the enemy," he added.
In an earlier report produced by Iran's official Fars News Agency (FNA) the country claims to be building "tens of different types" of unmanned aerial vehicles, and touts this latest model as the country's most advanced. According to the FNA, 30 of a total of 40 types of drone models are already in the production phase.
On February 2, Iran also unveiled to much fanfare another domestically produced aircraft, that time a manned "stealth" jet named Qaher 313, at a ceremony presided over by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Analysts within the US were generally suspicious of the unusual-looking aircraft, suspecting that it was a mock-up model rather than a flight-worthy prototype.

In recent years Iran has unveiled several drone models, such as the long-range Karrar in August 2010, and more recently the Shahed 129 model publicly disclosed in September 2012.
The Shahed 129 has been described as similar in appearance to Israel's own Hermes 450 UAV, and according to Iran is capable of carrying out combat and reconnaissance missions for up to 24 hours. Shahed also represented the country's second weapons-capable drone after Karrar.
To what extent Iran has developed its own technology and applied it to its domestic drone program is unclear. In December of 2011, the country was evidently able to bring down a US Lockheed Martin RQ-170 Sentinel drone 420 kilometers from its Afghanistan border, and subsequently declared it intended to reverse engineer the stealth aircraft. American officials speculated at the time that an internal technical issue could have brought down the craft.
In February, Iran released video footage allegedly decoded from the downed RQ-170, and images of the drone in Iranian possession seemed to indicate the craft had sustained only minimal damage.
US analysts have expressed doubts that Iran could have reverse engineered key components, such as the drone's stealth coating, though they worried that the technology would be shared with other countries, such as China.
Iran announced the unveiling of four drone types during an April military parade, designated as Azem 2, Mohajer B, Hazem 3 and the allegedly radar-evading Sarir.
The country has consistently demonstrated a desire to develop a robust domestic drone program. Iran has repeatedly been named in Israeli reports of drones launched from Lebanon, the latest of which was intercepted by the Israeli air force in late April near the coastal city of Haifa.

Iran has unveiled its latest indigenous unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), a reconnaissance and combat drone dubbed Hamaseh.
The drone was unveiled on Thursday during a ceremony attended by Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi.
"This drone has been built by defense industry experts and is simultaneously capable of surveillance, reconnaissance and missile and rocket attacks," Vahidi said on the sidelines of the ceremony.
"This aircraft with its stealth quality can avoid detection by the enemy," he added.
High altitude and long flight range are two other distinguishing features of the new Iranian UAV.
Iran has made important breakthroughs in its defense sector in recent years and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.
In August 2010, Iran unveiled its first indigenous long-range drone, Karrar, which is capable of carrying out bombing missions against ground targets, flying long distances at a high speed, and gathering information.
Shahed 129, characterized by a 24-hour nonstop flight capability, was another indigenously produced drone introduced in September 2012.
On December 17, 2012, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi said Iran had launched the production line of the ScanEagle drones, adding that the IRGC naval and aerospace divisions were employing the UAVs.

Iran raps Israeli aggression on Syria
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast has condemned the Israeli military aggression against Syria, urging regional countries to stand up against Tel Aviv.

Syrian Government Statement: The Israeli Aggression Opens the Door Wide for All Possibilities
The Cabinet held an extraodiinary session on Sunday chaired by Premier Dr. Wael al-Halqi, in which it denounced the criminal Israeli aggression against sites in Syria, affirming that this blatant aggression is violation of Syrian airspace, territories and sovereignty and a flagrant attack on the Syrian people's properties and resources.
