Memorial Day Tribute - Raw Video: Operation Phantom Fury, November 2004

Fallujah, Iraq, 2004 - Operation Phantom Fury - what it means to be a US Marine.

This battle was a combined Army and Marine offensive with a few Iraqi army units combined in. The operation was to crush mujihideen enemy and estimated 4,000-5,000 foreign fighters who had turned Fallujah (a city of 500,000) into a terrorist city-state led by the beheader Zarqawi.

All civilians were urged to leave weeks ahead of time by radio, leaflets and loudspeakers of Psy War units. There was no way to enforce the evacuation so some civilians did stay behind and a few became casualties. Most civilians did leave Fallujah and those who did received temporary housing, food and water from the US military.
