Britain torpedoes US war plan for Iran
by JewishNewsOne
The UK's belief military action against Iran is currently inappropriate has been laid bare by the disclosure that Britain has rebuffed US requests to use UK military bases to support the buildup of forces in the Gulf.
In a tersely worded statement Downing Street said military action is "not the right course at this point of time". Last week David Cameron urged Israel to show restraint and pointed out that sanctions are having an impact on the Iranian economy.
But Britain's Royal Navy has a large presence in the Gulf in case the ongoing diplomatic efforts fail; and Britain tacitly acknowledges it will contribute militarily should diplomacy and sanctions ultimately fail.
