Iran claims it has sophisticated spy drones

by JewishNewsOne

The Iranian Defence Ministry is claiming that the drone that Israel shot down in early October is not the most advanced in the Islamic Republic's fleet.

Iranian Defence Minister Ahmad Vahidi said that it was an embarrassment for Israel that the drone was able to fly into Israel airspace and remain there for half an hour before being destroyed by the IDF.

Another Iranian official claimed the drone was a copy of the US drone that was shot down over Iran last year. Israeli experts, though, disagree, with the managing director of the Fisher Institute for Air and Space Strategic Studies saying Iran's current drone technology is probably on par with what existed during the late 1980s.

Other Israeli officials agree, saying it's doubtful the drone was sophisticated enough to relay information back to Tehran.

Lebanese-based Islamist group Hezbollah, which receives support from Iran, has claimed that it sent the drone into Israeli airspace.
