'Iran Navy to shoot surface targets'
On the third day of Iran's extensive drills in the region surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, the Navy's artilleries will exercise shooting marine surface targets of aggressive forces, a senior Iranian commander says.
Rear Admiral Amir Rastegari, spokesman for the ongoing Velayat 91 naval drills, said that Iranian commandoes, riflemen, and special operational forces will exercise engaging aggressive forces on Sunday.
The special operational forces and the floating units division will also exercise overcoming aggressive vessels using helicopters, he said.

Russia Sends S-300 Patriot Missiles to Syria,Drawing a Line in The Sand for NATO
The Russian warships that arrived in Syrian territorial waters in
recent days were reportedly carrying technical advisors who will assist
the Syrian government in setting up an array of the super-advanced S-300
missiles.
This is according to Syrian and Russian sources cited by the London-based Arabic Al Quds-Al Arabi which said that Moscow is seeing a Western attack on Syria as a “red line” which it will not tolerate in any way.
The report said that Russia is maintaining their support for the
Assad government in Syria, despite constantly growing Western pressure
and amongst the puppet leaders that make up the Arab League.
In addition to the S-300 missiles, the report states that Russia is
also installing advanced radar systems in all of the critical Syrian
industrial and military installations.
Arutz Sheva reports that the S-300 system is regarded as one of the most powerful anti-aircraft missiles systems available.
They also point out that the radar system is capable of tracking 100
targets simultaneously while engaging up to 12 separate targets.
Deployment of the S-300 takes a mere five minutes and have a long life span with no maintenance required.
The system will provide coverage of areas both north and south of
Syria which would be able to detect troop or aircraft movements towards
Syrian borders.
The long-rage surface-to-air missiles were developed by Russia in
1960s-1970s in order to protect industrial and military bases from
aircraft attacks and cruise missiles.
This S-300 system will reportedly be used to “deflect a possible
attack by NATO or the U.S. and EU,” although the possibility of an Arab
League-sponsored attack is considerable if recent reports are to be
believed.
This system can reportedly target much of Israel and the Turkish
Incirlik military base which is utilized by NATO, which would likely be
leveraged if a no-fly zone operation was conducted.
The report claims that Russia was planning to sell the S-300 system to Iran but backed down after American and Israeli pressure.
However, the report also claims that Iran paid for the system for Syria and Arutz Sheva
alleges, “It is not known if some of the missiles have reached Iran as
well,” although that statement should obviously be taken with a large
grain of salt.
The stakes have been raised considerably as of late with the U.S.
Embassy in Damascus urging all American citizens to “immediately” leave
Syria and the Turkish ministry telling Turkish pilgrims to avoid
traveling through Syria altogether.
Furthermore, the French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said that
“humanitarian corridors or humanitarian zones” could be established in
order to protect those supposedly under attack, according to the Financial Times.
Juppe said that the issue would be further discussed by Foreign
Ministers of European Union member nations when they meet next month,
although it appears that preparations for such an operation are already
being made.
Juppe claimed that full scale military intervention was not on the table although his other statements indicate otherwise.
“In response to a demand from the Syrian national council, we will
examine, notably with our EU partners, the possibility of launching
humanitarian initiatives to alleviate the considerable suffering of the
(Syrian) population,” Juppe said.
Of course, as we have seen in Libya, any “humanitarian initiatives”
that establish “humanitarian corridors or humanitarian zones” indeed
require a full scale military intervention that will undoubtedly leave
countless civilians dead.
Even more importantly, any intervention whatsoever will spark the ire
of the Russians and Iranians, likely causing a much larger conflict.
One might argue that this has been the plan all along, to first enter Syria under humanitarian pretenses which would, as I have previously covered,
cause the Iranians to strike back and thus give justification to the
Western nations that have been pushing for an attack on Iran.
If Iran attempts to help Assad defend himself against a foreign
invasion, Israel would no longer need the smoking gun justification to
launch an all-out assault on Iran and the United States would likely
follow.
This is truly a hellish scenario, given that Russia would come to the
side of Syria and Iran, likely drawing in China, which has been goaded recently by the United States in the South China Sea dispute.
I truly hope that all of this is a bunch of hype and that nothing
will happen, as if this does unfold in the manner in which it is
currently, the world will enter a new age of horrific war that will make
previous world wars pale in comparison.

Activists in Homs claim Syrian government forces used poisonous gas on a rebel-held neighbourhood, killing several people on Monday.
They say that more than 50 people in the district were exposed to the gas and many are in critical condition.
They claim the gas used was Agent 15, which lists suffocation, nerve paralysis, temporary blindness, and hallucinations amongst its symptoms. This is yet to be confirmed.
The attack comes a day after dozens of people were were reported dead following an air strike on a bakery in the town of Halfaya north of the central city of Hama. Videos uploaded by activists purported to show the aftermath of the attack, bloodstained bodies lying amid rubble and shrapnel.
The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights put the number of dead at more than 60, although it said this number is expected to rise due to the number of people in critical condition.
Activists claim around 44,000 have been killed during the 21-month-conflict.

Syria's al-Nusra Front announces 'no-fly zone'
Al-Nusra Front (Jubhat al-Nusra), a group of fighters in Syria, has declared what it called a 'no-fly zone' over Aleppo, stating that the Syrian regime's army is using commercial flights to transport military gear and troops.
In a video sent to Al Jazeera, the group warned any civilians of boarding commercial flights to avoid being used as human shields.
They also confirmed laying siege on the al-Nairab airfield, adding that any plane over the skies of Aleppo will be targeted.
Al-Nusra told Al Jazeera they will use anti-aircraft guns of 23mm and 57mm caliber to down planes.
The US, earlier this month, has put al-Nusra on its list of terrorist organisations.

Iran unveils two indigenous helicopters
Iran has unveiled two domestically-produced helicopters at the sixth aerospace industry exhibition in the country's southern Kish Island in the Persian Gulf.
At the four-day event, the Iranian military showcased two semi-heavy and medium-weight military choppers, Panha-1 and Panha-2, which can carry 14 and 8 people, respectively
Their main task is to provide logistical support for the armed forces and take part in military missions.
Shahriar, a completely overhauled medium-lift, twin-engine helicopter with a capacity of 20 passengers, was also displayed during the ceremony.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony of the exhibition, Managing-Director of Iranian Aviation Industries Organization (IAIO) Manouchehr Manteqi said Iran is ready to export the two indigenous choppers.
In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in the defense sector and gained self-sufficiency in the production of essential military hardware and defense systems.

Air strikes across Syria, rebels attempt to shoot down helicopters
Medical supplies are running short and only a small team of exhausted Syrian medics are left inside the embattled eastern city, MSF coordinator Patrick Wieland said.
Wieland, who visited the area, said there was now only one makeshift hospital with four doctors in city, which sits near the Iraqi border and was once home to around 600,000 people.
An MSF team unofficially visited Deir al-Zor province but said conditions were too dangerous for them to enter the main city with the same name. The team visited public and private hospitals around the city and said the premises were inundated with wounded, some of them with hundreds of patients.
'Despite support from a Syrian doctors' organization, medical supplies are almost impossible to get hold of, and aerial bombardments and sniper fire make evacuating patients by stretcher extremely difficult,' the MSF report said.
'The health system is being targeted, and medical supplies, including drugs and blood products, are running out, while the number of wounded continues to increase.'
The startling reports of the state of medical care comes as The Times newspaper reports Syrian survivors in Aleppo are being starved as part of Assad's desperate bid to weaken the rebels and cling to power.
The city has no electricity since the lines were cut 25 days ago, leaving civilians with hardly any fuel, running water and no working phone lines.
The lack of power means flower mills can no longer provide the city with enough flour and the daily production of bread has fallen by 70 per cent in the majority of the large bakeries.
This has caused food prices in Aleppo to rocket by 75 per cent in just over a month with a loaf of bread increasing in price by an astonishing 1300 per cent. Wages have also plummeted and many are out of work.

Russia says Syrian rebels may be victorious
For the first time since the war in Syria began, Bashar Al Assad's strongest ally is suggesting that rebel fighters may prevail.
Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister has said the Syrian government is losing control of more territory. And he added that preparations are underway to evacuate Russian citizens IF it becomes necessary.
His comments were immediately welcomed by the US State Department.
The comments come as at least 16 people are killed in a car bomb blast southwest of the capital, Damascus. Robin Forrestier-Walker has more from Moscow.

'Iranians know US, Israel not as powerful as they claim'

US analyst: Syria scud missiles 'a profound escalation'
Human Rights Watch has reported that the Syrian government has been using incendiary scud missiles against the opposition in the north of the country.
The missiles contain highly flammable materials designed to cause severe burns.
Speaking to Al Jazeera from Washington, Mark Perry, military and foreign affairs analyst, says the reports are "credible", but the use of the unmanned missiles is a "very desperate measure" by the forces of Bashar al-Assad, the Syrian president.
Perry, author of "Talking to Terrorists: Why America Must Engage with its Enemies", tells Al Jazeera's Tony Harris that the use of the missiles may be a sign that the Assad forces "are up against a wall" and running out of pilots or helicopters with which to fire back at the armed opposition.
"If we want Assad overthrown, and we do, we're going to have to make the difficult choice of just saying 'let's do it'," he told Al Jazeera.

North Korea successfully launches satellite
North Korea has launched a rocket carrying in defiance of the United States and its allies. The move comes as an international surprise as Pyongyang said it would extend the launch window for the rocket Monday while reports from Seoul Tuesday, indicated that the rocket was being removed from the launch pad. North Korea state news took pride in the accomplishment.

Syria Rebels make child behead unarmed prisoner - WARNING - Extremely Graphic
A graphic video recently posted to on the internet appears to show Syrian rebels forcing a child to behead an unarmed prisoner. The footage has left many questioning whether foreign aid will end up in the hands of Islamist extremists and terrorists.
The video shows a child cutting a bound prisoner’s head off with a machete. Militants then display the man’s severed head while chanting "Allahu Akbar," or “God is great.”
It’s the latest in a string of especially grisly incidents, which have become more common in recent months. On Monday, rebels killed 13 soldiers during an ambush of an army unit in a strategic northern town, activists reported.
Syrian warplanes later bombed the town, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.Both sides have played a role in the deaths of over 40,000 people since the uprising against President Bashar Assad began in March 2011.

It has been classified as a deadly weapon of mass destruction by the United Nations according to Resolution 687. Production and stockpiling of Sarin was outlawed by the Chemical Weapons Convention of 1993.
The Biological chemicals came from a Turkish chemical manufacturer named "Tekkim Laboratories."
A video that depicts what appears to be terrorist rebel shows The Biological chemicals and demonstrates its uses two rabbits, ultimately exterminating them extermination within less then a minute.
The man in the video says: "You saw what happened? This will be your fate, you infidel Alawites, I swear by Allah to make you die like these rabbits, one minute only after you inhale the gas."
Sibel Deniz Edmonds a Turkish-American former FBI translator and founder of the National Security Whistleblowers Coalition said:
"We started reporting on the preparation by US and NATO and their Turkish partners in southern Turkey starting in May 2011. You are looking at sixteen or seventeen months ago, the United States, with their base in Turkey, started preparations for war against Syria."
President Obama stated, "Today I want to make it absolutely clear to Assad and those under his command -- the world is watching...The use of chemical weapons is and would be totally unacceptable...
